Well, as always here at the Your Home From Home blog we are bringing you a rundown of some of the best events and exciting goings-on to take your mind off any possible post-Christmas hangover or January blues!
First up naturally are the New Year’s Eve celebrations themselves which are a nice pick-me-up before the long, cold slog of January really sets in. There are a whole range of events happening in the capital under the guise of the three-day Dublin New Year Festival including live music, a poetry slam and an “anti-art” class. On top of those there are parties at most bars around the city, plus special events such as a story telling musical experience at Christ Church Cathedral and the RTE Concert Orchestra’s NYE Gala Event at the National Concert Hall.
The New Year itself doesn’t have to fill one with dread however and should really be seen for what it is, a big new beginning and an opening of possibilities. We all love making resolutions which sound great but that we never end up putting into practice! Why not get stuck into the year with something interesting like checking out the community wares and home grown and made food at the Dublin Food Co-Op, which also has an alternate added theme to its market every Sunday.
For all the kids out there, young or old, who might be looking for some post-Christmas joy there’s no better adventure than a trip up to Ireland’s favourite fairground, Funderland. Set on 3.5 acres in Ballsbridge (a short walk from a lot of our apartments!) Funderland has been running for 40 years but this year has 5 brand new attractions brought in from Germany.
