Il Divo, arguably Simon Cowell’s greatest success story, is headed to Dublin’s O2 arena this April. The quaffed quartet, a gifted, multicultural blend of operatic singers, is celebrating eight years of unrivalled success. The dreamy, dapper and always groomed group have made their fortune expertly putting their unique, operatic spin on popular pop songs.

They have enjoyed in excess of fifty number ones, played to audiences at major global events, including Obama’s inauguration in 2009 and the 2006 World Cup opening ceremony.  The crooners have also guest-appeared with and supported exceptional, world-renowned musicians, like the legendary Barbara Streisand, on her 2006 world tour.  Streisand’s tour went on to be the second best selling tour of that year, generating $92.5 million in sales.
Il Divo, which literally translates as ‘divine male performer’ in Italian, have had an inexorable rise to the top, with over 26 million albums sold, 8 albums recorded – including a greatest hits release – and six DVDs. And don’t forget the books – 2 for now.
Playing in Dublin, with support from Slovakian violinist Vladimir, the group will perform with a live orchestra. The operatic group will put on a show designed to wow audiences with booming baritones and high octane masterpieces. A tour de force, the show has been described by eminent critics as ‘simply unmissable.’
Created by Simon Cowell after a worldwide search, the band is a magnificent representation of what happens when musical genius, passion, and the right opportunity meet.
